Dear Friends and Friends of Friends - 

For dreaming on a lazy July afternoon or weekend, here are two items I came across this week of great interest (to me, at least). The first is some real estate pornography, a gorgeous house, the 15 room, 10 bedroom, 7 bath, 61 foot wide 1887 "Kelley Mansion" at 247 Hancock Street in Bed Stuy, available for only $6 million (just look, pix and link below).

The other is Hudson Yards, which is an entire new city now being built between 10th and 12th Ave from 30th to 34th Streets, where the city's news substation recently openeed. Besides 4,000 new residences, it will feature hundreds of high end shops and restaurants, a new park and public square, a school, a cultural center ("The Shed"), and new office towers. Through the Hi-Line it will integrate everything from the Meat Packing District to Midtown. In addition to really changing the face of the city, it seems like a brilliant piece of planning. Homes will start coming on market this Fall I'm told.
